Quiet Riot - Guilty Pleasures

Herrlich konnte ich nur sagen, als ich mir diese Scheibe an einem verregneten Nachmittag im Fnac von Madrid zulegte. Es ist immer wieder schön einen der seltenen Fälle zu erleben, in der sich 80er Bands auch im Jahr 2001 noch auf ihre musikalischen Wurzeln besinnen und zwar nur auf diese ohne irgendwelches Gedöns um das Ding auf modern zu trimmen.

Besonders schön ist es dann auch noch, wenn die Songs von wirklich guter Qualität sind. Lieder, wie die Nummer eins „Vicious Circle“, die Nummer zwei „Feel the pain“, die Nummer vier „Shadow of love“ und die Nummer zehn „Street fighter“ rocken richtig gut und hart ab und dürften besonders die Leute zufrieden stellen, die Quiet Riot in der härteren Gangart in Metal Health Manier mögen. Mit track Nummer neun „Let me be the one“ hat es auch eine ganz nette Ballade auf das Album geschafft. Für mich als eingefleischter Glam Fan bedeutet aber besonders Lied Nummer drei eine große Freude. Lange habe ich bei jedem neuen Quiet Riot Album immer auf ein zweites „Slick black Cadillac“ gehofft und nie bekommen. Und hier es den ersehnten Nachfolger nun endlich in Form von „Rock the House“, das absolut genial losrockt und top Laune macht. Da ist es auch klar, das mich jede Menge Leute blöd angeguckt haben und sich wohl gefragt haben, über was ich in dem Regen so glücklich bin. Die Repeat Funktion meines Discmans wurde an diesem Nachmittag jedenfalls voll ausgereizt.

Insgesamt kann ich sagen, dass Quiet Riot Fans hier, auch wenn es zwei oder drei Filler gibt, bedenkenlos zugreifen können, da „Guilty Pleasures“ ein wirklich überzeugendes Album ist. Das einzige, was hier eigentlich fehlt ist ein weiteres Slade Cover.

„Great“ was all I could say, after I had bought „Guilty Pleasures“ on one rainy afternoon at the Fnac Store in Madrid. It’s always great to have one of the rare cases in which eighties bands still know their musicial roots in the year 2001. Especially when they do this without adding any stuff to make it sound modern. The band recorded some really great material. Songs like the number one „Vicious Circle“, number two „Feel the pain“, number four „Shadow of love“ and number ten „Street fighter“ really rock and should especially please those who like Quiet Riot in the hard way of Metal Health. With song number nine “Let me be the one“ there’s also a nice ballad included. But for me as an old hairrock fan track number three meant the greatest luck. With every new Quiet Riot record I have hoped for a second “Slick black Cadillac” and it never came. But here it finally showed up with “Rock the house”, that really rocks in a non stop fun way and brings you in the pefect mood to party. I’m sure that many people were questioning themselves what I was so lucky about in the rain. The repeat function of my discman was in heavy use that day.

To conclude I need to say that all Quiet Riot Fans, even if there are two or three fillers, can buy “Guilty Pleasures” without hesitation, because it is a really good album. The only thing that is actually missing is another Slade cover song.
