Treat - Scratch and Bite

Hier haben wir die erste Scheibe von Treat „Scratch and Bite“, die von Polygram 1985 herausgebracht wurde. Treat oder „The Treat“ wie sie sich zuerst selbst nannten, wurde von Robert Ernlund (Gesang), Anders „Gary“ Wikström (Gitarre), und Leif „Lillen“ Liljegren (Gitarre) in Stockholm/Schweden 1982 gegründet. Alle drei spielten bereits zusammen seit 1981 in der Band „The Boys“, mehr eine Rockband, die nur auf schwedisch gesungen und ein Album aufgenommen hat. Erst als Schlagzeuger Mats „Dalton“ Dahlberg (Ex-Highbrow, Power) in die Band 1983 eintrat, began etwas zu passieren. Dalton hatte einige Kontakte mit Swedish Polygram, die zu dieser Zeit eine neue schwedische Hardrockband verpflichten wollten. Zu derselben Zeit kam Bassist Tomas Lind zu „The Treat“ und alle fünf zusammen begannen neue Demo Songs im Polygram Studio aufzuzeichnen. Sie sagten alle in frühen Interviews, daß sie von Bands wie Journey, Foreigner, Def Leppard, Boston, Kiss, Whitesnake und Van Halen beeinflußt wurden. Für dieses Album war das Line Up mit Robert Ernlund (Gesang), Anders Wikström (Gitarre), Jamie Borger (Bass, Ex-SIX FEET UNDER, CAPRICORN, SWEDISH EROTICA), Joe Larson (Schlagzeug, Ex-Six Feet Under, Power, Jammer) und Patrick Appelgren (Ex-Power) komplett. So richtig in die Melodik Szenerie kamen sie mit ihrem dritten Album „Dreamhunter“ 1987, was eigentlich recht schade ist, da „Scratch and Bite“ und „The Pleasure Principle“ grossartige Alben sind. Ich fand die Songs recht frisch, recht melodisch und für jede Party zum Auflegen bereit. Natürlich sind die Songs nicht so genial, wie die Nachfolgenden Alben, aber für ihre Anfangszeit haben sie es toll hinbekommen. Aufreißer sind sicher „Scratch and Bite“, „Get You On The Run“, „Hidin´“ und die geniale Ballade „We Are One“, hervorragend umgesetzt und unverkennbar gleichzusetzen mit dem Musketiersatz „Alle für einen und einer für alle“. Solltet ihr euch unbedingt zulegen!

Here we have the first album from Treat „Scratch and Bite“ released from Polygram Records in 1985.

TREAT or "THE TREAT" as they called themselves at first was formed by Robert Ernlund (Vocals) , Anders "Gary" Wikstrom (Guitar) and Leif "Lillen" Liljegren (Guitar) in Stockholm /Sweden in 1982. All three had all been playing together since early 1981 in "THE BOYS", a more straight ahead Rock band who sang in swedish only and recorded one album. It wasn´t until drummer Mats "Dalton" Dahlberg (ex-Highbrow, Power) joined the guys in the summer of 1983 that things started to happen. Dalton had some contacts within Swedish Polygram who at the time was looking for a new Swedish hardrock band to sign. At the same time, bass player Tomas Lind joined The Treat and all five of them begun to record new demo songs together in the Polygram studio. They all said in early interviews that they were influenced by bands such as Journey, Foreigner, Def Leppard, Boston, KISS, Whitesnake and Van Halen. For this album was the Line Up with Robert Ernlund (vocals), Anders Wikström (guitar), Jamie Borger (bass, Ex-SIX FEET UNDER, CAPRICORN, SWEDISH EROTICA), Joe Larson (drums, Ex-Six Feet Under, Power, Jammer) and Patrick Appelgren (Ex-Power) complete. They really came into the melodic scene with their third album „Dreamhunter“ 1987, what´s quite a pity because „Scratch and Bite“ and „The Pleasure Principle“ are excellent albums. I found the songs quite fresh, quite melodic and ready for every party for establishing. Of course the songs aren't so brilliant like the following albums but for their beginning they are terrific. On-thriller are sure „Scratch and Bite“, „Get You On The Run“, „Hidin´“ and the great ballade „We Are One“, excellent converted and unmistakably equating as the musketeer sentence „All for one and one for all“. Certainly something you should have!
